Global Kids Cooking Camps
Our kids camp is a hands-on exploration of the culinary world that teaches campers kitchen fundamentals (basic knife skills, measuring, sautéing, baking, roasting and kitchen safety) while introducing them to new foods from around the world. Each day we will create specific meals inspired by global cuisine, from Indian food to Mediterranean. The idea is that students will eat the food they cook and learn to enjoy new tastes and flavors. Local fresh ingredients serve as a teaching tool to demonstrate seasonal availability of fruits and vegetables in our area. Your child will leave with recipes in a binder that are easily replicated at home.
We make five recipes each day: appetizer, entree, two side dishes and dessert.
Sample menu: Best Ever Spicy Gazpacho with Garlic Croutons, Grilled Mediterranean Chicken with Lemon and Fresh Herbs, Tuscan Pasta with Caramelized Onions and Burrata, Tiramisu with Cinnamon Whipped Cream
Public Camps 2018:
I am offering two options for kids camps this summer for ages 12 to 16.
Location: Blue Dogwood Food Hall 306 West Franklin Street, Chapel Hill.
Dates: June 25th through June 29th and July 30th through August 3rd. Hours: 10 am to 2 pm.
Cost: $375 per person for the five day camp, payment in full is due upon registration .
I teach at your house for three days in a row or a schedule that is best for you, all classes are three hours. I include an afternoon outing to the Farmers Market ( location will be the one nearest you). We prepare dishes after the trip using the best local, summer produce.
